The goal of the social studies department is to use standards based curriculum to develop informed, creative, and independent thinkers.  The instructors use the four years of social studies education to help students prepare for their role as citizens of the United States and the world.  Students are exposed to a variety of ideologies, primary sources, informational text, and historical approaches.  The department works as a cohesive unit to keep curriculum current and relevant.
