Cyber Security Club
Monty Tech’s Cyber Team, Marine Raiders, has competed nationally at the CyberPatriot competition for years gathering various awards, including a first place finish in CyberPatriot VII. CyberPatriot is a cyber defense competition with several online rounds and a final competition hosted in Baltimore, Maryland. Our Marine Raiders must be able to secure various versions of Windows and Ubuntu operating systems, secure server machines, operate Cisco networking hardware, Cisco packet tracer, and understand digital forensics. The team also instructs at CyberSTEM camps during the summer in various locations, including Chicago, Charleston, South Carolina and Front Royal, Virginia. Monty Tech also hosts a middle school STEM camp locally that engages students in operating systems, robotics, and digital forensics.
The Monty Tech MCJROTC Cyber Team is open to all cadets enrolled at Monty Tech, however certain commitments are expected of members. Cyber competitions are done in teams of 6 and require participation of all team members both during events and during practices. The Cyber Security Club needs to take a place above sports and other clubs, but below academics. Cadets are held to a high academic and moral standard and are expected to attend weekly meetings. Team placement is dependent on cadet leadership, competition experience, as well as cyber security knowledge. Cadets interested in joining should contact Cadet Captain Commodore or listen for cyber meeting announcements during formation.
We meet on Wednesdays, from 3:00 - 6:00pm in Room #520.
